đź§  The Role: Founding Head of Engineering

We’re looking for a product-minded, technically brilliant Head of Engineering to lead our engineering efforts at the ground floor. You’ll help architect core systems, scale teams from scratch, and make strategic product and infrastructure decisions that define our path forward.

This is a player-coach role — we’re looking for someone eager to mentor and lead, while also diving into the code and helping engineers work through technical problems.

💼 What You’ll Do

  • Own the full engineering strategy — technical vision, infrastructure design, and team development
  • Make hands-on contributions across the stack, especially early on
  • Scale engineering orgs from 5 → 50+ with a clear and intentional hiring roadmap
  • Mentor engineers and instill a culture of technical excellence, reliability, and high ownership
  • Build scalable processes for testing, deployment, and observability of mission-critical systems
  • Partner closely with founders, product, and design to define and deliver roadmap
  • Lead by example — reviewing code, evaluating architecture decisions, and being deeply involved in execution

✅ What We’re Looking For

  • 7–15 years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years leading multiple workstreams or teams
  • Experience as an engineering leader at an early-stage startup (founder, founding engineer, or first exec hire)
  • Previously joined a company during its early stages and helped scale it significantly (ideally to 100+ engineers)
  • Recent, active coding experience and comfort discussing code choices with ICs
  • Proven success in technical hiring, team building, and org design
  • Strong grasp of front-end, back-end, infrastructure, and system design
  • Product-first mindset — you care about how your decisions impact UX, customer value, and business goals
  • Natural mentor and leader who builds trust through clarity, ownership, and execution

  • You’ve only worked at large companies or late-stage startups
  • You’ve been hands-off for too long and are uncomfortable reviewing code or designing systems
  • You’ve never scaled a team before or only joined after major scaling had already occurred
  • Your experience includes multiple short tenures without clear impact
